Paper Plate Flying Dragon
Build your own flying dragon friend with this fun and cute craft!
With painting, cutting, sticking and pinning, this craft will give your little reader’s fine motor skills a good workout, as they use their paintbrush, scissors and glue stick.
Once finished, enjoy making your dragon fly using its movable wings!
What you'll need
- 2 x paper plates
- Paint
- Paintbrush
- Scissors
- Glue
- 2 x split pins
- Coloured card
How to make them
1. Paint both of your paper plates unsing your paint. Be as creative as you like! When completely covered set them aside to dry.
2. Whilst the paint is drying, draw or print a dragon head and tail on your coloured card (you can get our template here), then use your scissors to cut these out, ready to build your dragon!
3. Once the paint is dry, cut one of your plates in half to form the wings. If you like, you can cut out small waves from the curved edge of each wing.
4. Use your scissors to carefully poke a small hole in one side of your tummy plate. Poke another hole in the end of one wing. Push a split pin through first the tummy plate, then the wing plate and fasten. Repeat on the other side.
5. Use your glue to attach your dragon’s head and tail to the back of the tummy plate.
6. Once finished, give your dragon a name, and help him gently flap his wings up and down!
